Biography

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Al-Khowarizmi, M.Kom. was born in Medan in 1992. He completed his doctoral studies in Computer Science at the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) in 2023. He began his professional journey as an active IT practitioner in North Sumatra, serving as an expert consultant for several regencies and cities across the province. Driven by a commitment to academia, he joined the Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU). Since then, he has been actively fulfilling the “Tri Dharma” (the Three Pillars of Higher Education), which include:

Education: Lecturing on core subjects such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining.

Research: Conducting extensive research in Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining, Neural Networks, and Machine Learning, with findings published in various national and international journals and conferences.

Community Service: Implementing technological solutions for public benefit.

Currently, he serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FIKTI) at UMSU for two consecutive terms (2021–2025 and 2025–2029). In addition to his academic leadership, he is highly active in various professional and business associations, currently holding several strategic positions, including:

Treasurer of APTIKOM (Association of Higher Education in Informatics and Computing) North Sumatra (2023–2027).

Vice Chairman of IPKIN (Indonesian Computer, Informatics, and Professionals Association) North Sumatra Chapter (2019–2024).

Deputy Secretary of HIPMI (Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association) Medan (2023–2027).
